Proverbs - XXXIII

 

• ক্ষুধা পেলে বাঘে ধান খায়।
  Hunger is the best sauce.
  Hunger gives taste to our food; hunger is a great appetizer.
• তুমি বেড়াও ডালে-ডালে, তো আমি বেড়াই পাতায়-পাতায়।
  I know the ins and outs more than you do.
  
• পড়ল কথা সভার মাঝে, যার কথা তার গায়ে বাজে।
  If the cap fits, wear it.
  
• শীত সমাগত, তবুও বসন্ত কি বহু দূরে?; মেঘ দেখে কেউ করিসনে ভয় আড়ালে তার সূর্য হাসে।
  If winter comes can spring be far behind? .
  After cloud comes fair weather
• যত হাসি তত কান্না, বলে গেছে রাম শর্মা।
  If you laugh to-day you may cry to-morrow.
  Weal and woe come by turns.
• পাপের ধন প্রায়শ্চিত্তে যায়।
  Ill got, ill spent.
  Money gained dishonestly, spent dishonestly.
• মন্দ খবর বাতাসের আগে চলে।
  Ill news runs apace.
  
• মন্দ খবর বাতাসের আগে যায় ।
  Ill news spreads faster than wind .
  Bad news travels fast.
• আগাছার বাড় বেশি।
  Ill weed's grow apace.
  
• অজাতের বৃদ্ধি বেশি।
  Ill weeds grow apace .
  Bad things grow rapidly.
