Proverbs - XXXV

 

• জলে বাস করে কুমীরের সাথে বিবাদ ।
  It is folly to live in Rome and strive with the Pope .
  It is unwise to fight with the man in authority.
• কুমীরের সঙ্গে বিবাদ করে জলে বাস।
  It is hard to sit at Rome and strive with the Pope.
  
• এই তো কলির সন্ধ্যা ।
  It is just the beginning the trouble.
  The commencement of evil.
• দেরি হলেও সংশোধনের সময় থাকে ।
  It is never too late to mend .
  There is always time for rectifying a wrong.
• গতস্য শোচনা নাস্তি; অতীত নিয়ে দুঃখ করে লাভ নেই ।
  It is no use crying over spilt milk .
  Let bygones be bygones; let the dead past bury its dead.
• অপরের দোষ ধরা সহজ।
  It is very easy to find fault with others .
  Man can easily find fault with others.
• মন্দরা সব একসাথে আসে ।
  It never rains but it pours.
  A lot of bad things tend to happen at the same time.
• এক হাতে তালি বাজে না।
  It takes two to make a quarrel or battle.
  Both are to blame in a quarrel.
• ভাঙে তো মচকায় না।
  It would rather break in twain than bend.
  
• সবজান্তা কিন্তু কোনটিতেই ওস্তাদ নয় ।
  Jack of all trades, master of none .
  One does many things fairly well, but is not an expert at anything.
